DELTA PATRIOTS NORTH - APRIL 4, 2008
The Delta Patriots are pleased to announce the formation of a third set of team. What does that mean? If you were previously on a waiting list you are now a member of the Patriots North Team.

As a result of adding a third team, there are a limited number of spots available on the Starts, Rookies and JV North teams. If you know anyone who wanted to sign up with the Patriots but didn’t because they thought we were full, please let them know they can still register online or attend Walk-in Registration this Saturday at Willy’s Bagel between 1pm and 3pm (across the street from Heritage HS). Look for the giant Patriots Helmet.

There are still coaching positions and a few Board Member positions available for the North teams. If you are interested in getting involved please send us an email at DeltaPatriots@deltapatriots.com.

We have some additional great news! Today, we received word from Heritage HS that they will allow our North teams to practice at Heritage starting the first day of practice. This means all three sets of teams will practice at one location for the entire season.

We are very excited with this opportunity to grow our organization and we appreciate all the support we have received from the community. This growth puts us one step closer to achieving our goal of providing a league that is local to our community and which allows more kids the opportunity to play football and cheer.
2008 USA JUNIOR NATIONALS - MARCH 21, 2008
DELTA PATRIOTS CHEER LEADS THE WAY AT DISNEYLAND

With dancing genies, soaring carpets and Disney characters everywhere, the Delta Patriots Pee Wee Cheer team began their day of competing at the 2008 United Spirit Association’s Junior Nationals at the Hyperion Aladdin Theater located inside Disney’s California Adventure on March 1st. This year is Disney’s “Year of a Million Dreams,” where wishes big and small come true.

The Patriots cheerleaders indeed have had many of their wishes granted this year. In February, the organization won the 2008 Jamz Hip Hop national title at the competition in Las Vegas, Nevada. Added to the list is the Pee Wee Cheer team, which garnered first place in the Pee Wee Performance Cheer division, making this the second national title for the Patriots this year!

At the Disney competition, the Cheerleaders also placed fifth out of nine teams in the Pee Wee Song division. Cheer Athletic Director and Head Competition Coach Grissell Barros received a phone call Tuesday following the competition from USA President Mike Burgess, stating that score sheets were incomplete and that indeed the Patriots placed fifth in the competition.

Ms. Barros remarked, “Regardless (of the outcome), I told the President (that) my girls had such a great experience and were proud of their performances, this will just be icing on the cake.”

JV Head Coach Tuli Ojala stated, “Our team had done such an outstanding job this year, this was a great way to end it.”

Ms. Barros added, “We sure went out with a bang this year. I could never imagine in three years in existence that we would have two National titles, numerous trophies and an outstanding support system. This is what every coach lives for their team. I would like to thank Brendalina Garibay for her cheer choreography, Eryka Guitron for her dance choreography, and Sasha Lahham for constant support and coaching of the team … I could have not done it alone.”

The Patriots JV Cheer Coaches are: Tuli Ojala, Ivy Tolentino, Jordana Glenn, Grissell Barros. The JV Cheerleaders are: Alexa Ojala, Jasmine Napoles, Jayden Tolentino, Jaylynn Glenn, Haley Schwitters, Moniquica Harrell, Brooke Culbreath, Rowena Taguiam, Chanelle Patterson, Jordan Patania, Adriana Fregoso, Nadia Lahham, and Brooklyn Douglas.

If your child would like to be part of the Delta Patriots family, please be reminded that registration for football and cheerleading will take place on Saturday, April 5, at Willy’s Bagels and Blends, located at 390 W. Country Club Drive in Brentwood (intersection of Balfour Road) , from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
2008 JAMZ NATIONALS - MARCH 20, 2008
Who Wears the Jacket in Vegas?
The Delta Patriots: 2008 Jamz National Hip Hop Champions!

For the third consecutive year, the Delta Patriots have made it to the Jamz Nationals Cheer Competition in Las Vegas, Nevada. They performed on Sunday, February 10th in the JV Hip Hop competition, and Monday, February 11th in the Showcheer, Pom and Varsity Hip Hop session. After coming home with a second place finish last year in hip hop, this year they were striving to be number 1, and achieved their goal, winning Gold Medals and Jamz Jackets as the 2008 Hip Hop National Champions!

The Youth IV, Level 4 Showcheer and Youth IV Dance Competition team consisted of 25 girls ranging from ages 9-14. Even though they had young girls, they had a strong team, executing sharp cheer moves and elite dance choreography in dance, taking the second place trophies in both divisions.

Brendalina Garibay, junior coach and Showcheer / Hip Hop choreographer, announced, “I’m very proud of the girls on how far they have come, and to come home with jackets & 1st place in Hip Hop was a perfect ending for the season! Both the Showcheer and Hip Hop routines were very difficult this year. My mom and I stepped it up this time and the girls took the floor and owned it. I couldn’t ask for anything more from these girls. I’m so proud of all of them!”

Grissell Barros, Cheer Athletic Director and dance choreographer, exclaimed, “I can’t tell you how proud I am of these girls. They have once again proven that they have the drive and determination to bring their best every time they perform. We brought a young team to Vegas, but we knew the girls had the ability to compete in the elite divisions. Winning 2nd and 1st place just confirmed my belief in all of them!” To learn more about the Delta Patriots Cheer Program, please visit www.deltapatriots.com, sign ups will be starting online March 1st.

JJ STOKES & CATCH 83 - FEBRUARY 22, 2008
The Delta Patriots Youth Football & Cheer are proud to announce a new partnership with JJ Stokes and Catch 83. Stokes is a former professional football player with the San Francisco 49ers and New England Patriots. He along with his personal trainer, Mike Sanchez, put on sports camps and provide personal training to athletes throughout California. Their program focus on nutrition, biomechanics, posture, form and position specific techniques.

“This is a very exciting opportunity for the Delta Patriots,” states Barry Lance, President of the Delta Patriots. Roger Bonte, our COO, has done a great job securing this partnership with Catch 83. Lance continues, “….Every youth tackle football participant is required to put in 10 hours of conditioning before they put on their pads. Most leagues just throw the kids out on the field and make them do push ups, sit ups and run sprints to get in their conditioning hours. JJ’s program goes way beyond that. It is conditioning with a purpose. The drills that JJ and his staff will put the kids through will not only condition them, but it will improve their skills, agility and abilities. The drills and techniques the kids will learn during the first week will continue to be utilized in practices throughout the entire season.”

The Delta Patriots Youth Football & Cheer organization is the largest provider of youth tackle football and cheer in Contra Costa County.
